Two thousand years ago, the motley crew of followers of an itinerant preacher gathered together in a room. Their beloved master had recently been crucified. To their astonishment, he had also risen from the dead. Yet, rather than remain among them, he instead ascended into heaven, telling them to wait for the promise of the Father. They were hopeful, yet uncertain about the future. They were still processing the wounds and aspirations that accompanied their recent experiences. They had reasons for great joy, and also plenty of excuses for cowardice. In many ways, they were much like our teens today. Upon this unlikely lot, the Holy Spirit descended in tongues of fire, and the world would never be the same. With the vivacity and ferocity of a blazing flame, their faith spread.
